We’ve already discussed Shipyard Brewing Company’s Pumpkinhead and universally enjoyed it. This week we try their Smashed Pumpkin from their Pugsley’s Signature Series. Part of a special series of beers named after brewmaster Alan Pugsley, Smashed Pumpkin is a big beer coming in at 9% ABV. But don’t be fooled: this pumpkin beer is not boozy; it’s bold and would be a great addition to your holiday meals! Goes great with sharp cheeses, nuts, lamb, hearty stews and desserts like flan or pumpkin pie . Chefs find this an excellent beer to cook with in dishes such as braised short ribs. On a lighter note, this beer also goes great with Fig Newtons.
