I really did enjoy this beer! Jay, I’m a big fan of Duck Rabbit and their Bourbon Barrel aged Milk Stout sounds great! I enjoy their Wee Heavier Scotch Ale!

Barleywine Ale is a complex beer! I had the pleasure of sampling 3 different vintages of it at Duck Rabbit Brewery last year — their 2006, 2007 and 2008 batches.

Each year’s brew had a unique flavor — if I remember correctly the newest (2008) was extremely hoppy — like drinking a glass of grapefruit juice. The 2007 was overly sweet — almost syrupy. Both of them were drinkable but you wouldn’t want to down more than one glass of either. The 2006 was “just right” with a balance of hops and malt while the alcohol was not overwhelming to the senses.

(I also need to add that as good as the Barleywine’s were they paled in comparison to Duck Rabbit’s Bourbon Barrel aged Milk Stout! — you guys at BeerAmerica have GOT to get a sample of that stuff. One of the best beers I have tasted in my life).

Yumms, I have been trying to find this beer. It looks so freakin good. I love big barleywines.
