Dogfish Head: Theobroma, Ep. 153

It’s been a while since Beer America TV discussed a Dogfish Head beer, so thanks to our good friend at TexasBrews.org, Scooter Hendon, we’ve got one to share! Theobroma is part of the Dogfish Ancient Ale series brewed with Aztec cocoa powder, honey and chilies. One thing for sure is that it dosn’t taste like what you’d expect from a flavor standpoint, but it’s a winner none the less!

  • Marco Said,

If you ever find out what kind of Honey they use in that beer, I’d love to know. Also, what technique in how to brew with it, as my experience brewing with honey or maple syrup gets fermented out and the flavour isn’t in the final product.

    Cheers,
    Marco

  • Paul Said,

You’re right Marco, John has talked about how honey gets lost in the brewing process so that’s why beers don’t taste like “honey” when they say it’s used as an ingredient. I’ll have to get John on this so he explain in more detail why that happens during the brewing process.
